Biography:
Sheila Teni Ayine is an incoming MA student on her academic journey at the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Toronto. In 2021, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Ghana, School of Performing Arts, where her passion for the dramatic arts blossomed. During her undergraduate years, Sheila held the prestigious role of president of the Association of Students of Performing Arts, showcasing her leadership and unwavering commitment to the field.

Specializing in directing, Sheila actively engaged in numerous theatre productions, both as a director and a performer. Her dedication to her craft led her to collaborate with respected professors, including Prof. Martin Okyere Owusu, and well-known production houses like Nyasapo, Chief Moomen, and Superfam Productions. Her love for dance especially African traditional dances led her to teach primary schools how to dance and drum and most especially grow their love for the Arts. 

Sheila's academic pursuits are rooted in her firm belief in theatre as a potent instrument for catalyzing societal change. She also has a deep interest in exploring the life stories of Black female playwrights, with a particular focus on how these stories are interwoven into the fabric of the plays they create. For Sheila, theatre truly comes to life when it graces the stage, and she embraces the transformative power of live performances.
