CDTPS faculty member Snežana Pešić to attend upcoming World Costume in Action Exhibition

September 25, 2024 by Tara Maher and Snežana Pešić

Centre for Drama, Theatre & Performance studies faculty member and performance designer Snežana Pešić will present her work at the upcoming World Costume in Action exhibition and costume design conference organized by the International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT). This event will take place at Bucharest National Theatre in Romania from October 23 to 27, 2024, under the umbrella of the Bucharest Scenography Biennale and National Theatre Festival — arguably Romania’s most significant theatre event.

The exhibition will feature large, high-resolution prints and a small selection of physical costumes. Pešić will present costume designs from two recent projects, Alcestis and Modified Bodies. Her costume for the character Death from the play Alcestis produced by the University of Toronto Mississauga will be one of the few selected works to be physically displayed at the Bucharest National Theatre.

At the OISTAT Costume Conference, Pešić will give a talk titled, "Sustainable Design Practices in an Educational Setting" reviewing her design and teaching process for the CDTPS 2024 Mainstage production The Trials written by Dawn King. This case study of the eco-responsible, low-waste creation implemented in this university production will be geared toward educators, students and artists working on small-scale productions.
